so even if you're only beating the first stage, you get a noticeable boost in power within your first couple of hours of gameplay.

That boss nets you over 200 gems every 10 minutes or so. Once again I'm not good at the game and I managed to beat the boss of stage 1 within my first 40'ish minutes of gameplay, (it took 2 attempts) and now I usually end up just using Skul to take it out as I can do that rather quickly by making use of teleporting with the special. You just need to get your dodging and special use down packed. This game is made in a way that you can actually beat it with just Skul if you're good enough at it.

I'm not good at this game and I can take out the boss of the second stage with Skul (no transformations) and it doesn't take 20 minutes. If any boss is taking you 20 minutes to beat. The game is pretty fun, and would probably do well, but most people are gonna refund this before the 2 hours are up people just don't like having to grind out extremely small upgrades just to be able to play, then have runs that are just flops because you got ♥♥♥♥♥♥, useless skulls., Your game shouldn't be balanced around getting rare skulls and lucky builds. It's definitely unfair, but that attracts a certain demographic. The game requiring you to destroy rewards to get small upgrades is also fairly backwards. The patterns are fine, but any boss that takes more than 20 minutes to kill is just dumb. The class balance is terrible, some being literal downgrades purely due to losing dashes.

You have to bang your head against the wall of the second boss until you finally get enough damage to be able to kill them without it taking 2 hours. After his energy moves use a linear skill to DPS him because he will be vulnerable for some time.Īlso, for the Thief it has a skill that you get invulnerable for some time, take some time to read your skills, if you're liking the game keep trying, you will be rewarded, there's tons of builds and combos. On his second phase he will punch diagonally, but then again he will push farther, just hug the wall and you'll be fine, avoid the punching ground by not staying in the purple line, climb again the branches, it is a sequence of four moves, his last move is the purple balls, they will come from the sky, keep your eye looking to it, use your Skul to throw your head if you're having a hard time. His third attack he will summon three balls with lesser ones, just look at it and keep avoiding. On his first phase he will just give a punch in a diagonal way, but it is very slow, with Skul you can throw your head to the opposite side he will be punching, his second attack he punches the ground, just stay in the two branches(platform-like environment) and you will avoid that. Article taken from Yggdrasil try to learn the patterns(well, that's the strat for every boss lol) You can buy Skul: The Hero Slayer on Humble Store and Steam. Overall though if you're up for a challenge and you love your pixel-art, rogue-lite action-platforming with plenty of character variation with all the skulls then it's an easy recommendation to go and pick up. I should note that the current build on Linux has an issue of a black screen instead of the main menu, although all it does it get you to click a button to load back into the game which does work so it's not a big problem. So much fun to the action and it's not bad looking either, some of the pixel-art that went into Skul is really pretty with lots of little details.

It feels so good! Swapping between heads which gives you an instant ability firing off (great in a pinch), and then unleash some abilities while you wait to be able to switch back. The good news is that for all the repetition needed, the combat is absolutely brilliant mechanically. At times you feel ridiculously overpowered, others it's like you're an ant and they're just a big shoe waiting to step on you. RNG can be an issue here though, as it can often depend on what skull you can find to help you progress. It all depends on how much you enjoy jumping around platforms, and slicing through every enemy possible while also unleashing some admittedly awesome abilities. Like a lot of games that work on repetition, it can get a little…repetitive. YouTube videos require cookies, you must accept their cookies to view.
